Yoga and I connected informally in the early 2000s through
Kriya yoga, then more formally through Hatha yoga classes given
by the initial Ottawa Men’s Yoga group, begun by my first yoga teacher Loren
Crawford in 2007.
With Loren’s encouragement, I completed my Yoga Alliance-recognized
200-hour Hatha teacher training program at the Upward Dog Yoga Centre in
2009.
No stranger to body work, I practiced and taught Tai Chi
before perfecting my therapeutic and sports massage skills, which I
provided for many years to the men’s community.
Having recently completed an M.A. in Psychotherapy,
Counselling and Spirituality from Saint-Paul University, I am continuing to
work with the men’s community but in a more professional and formal setting. Starting
this second career in mental health has been planned for many years. I feel
proud and grateful of this challenging career choice.
I am an avid environmentalist and a strong believer in healthy nutrition and a
responsible, physically active lifestyle. Everything goes hand in hand, and
with everything I get involved in, I practice a “tread lightly” approach.
